The Daily Word of Righteousness

Revelation 21:8, continued

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (I John 3:15)

Perhaps such deliverance has always been practiced in the churches. I doubt it. But if it has, to some extent at least, a new dimension seems to have been added today. What is taking place now is an eternal judgment. When we confess our sins, turning away from them, they are forgiven and we are cleansed. They never will be mentioned to us again, unless we fall back into them. It is an eternal judgment.

Let us consider the eight attitudes and behavior over which the Lake of Fire retains eternal authority.

Cowardice. It may surprise us that the first sin mentioned is cowardice. But if you think about it, the cowardly person can get nowhere with God. In order to pursue the program and process of salvation we have to have courage and faith in God. Fear and faith cannot dwell in our heart at the same time. They are mutually exclusive.

The Israelites angered God with their fearfulness and were turned back into the wilderness.

If you are a fearful person, afraid to press into the Lord in these days, go to the Lord and name the sin of cowardice clearly and specifically. Tell the Lord you are condemning cowardice to the Lake of Fire where it belongs, that you want no part of it.

If you do this as fervently as you can, God will forgive you and cleanse the cowardice from your personality. He will restore you to fellowship with the Father. Ask God to give you the courage of Jesus Christ.

In the future do what you can to resist this spirit for it will attempt to take control of you again. You will find a power to resist fear. A power you never before have experienced. Try it. You'll like the results.

If yours is an unusually tough case, bring it before the elders of your church. Have them take authority over the spirit of cowardice and cast it from you.

Unbelief. Some Christians have a tremendous spirit of unbelief. Every time they try to get ahead in the Lord they are hindered by their unbelief.

If you have a problem with unbelief, go to the Lord and name this sin clearly and specifically. Tell the Lord you are condemning unbelief to the Lake of Fire where it belongs, that you want no part of it.

If you do this as fervently as you can, God will forgive you and cleanse the unbelief from your personality. He will restore you to fellowship with the Father. Ask God to give you the faith of Jesus Christ.

In the future do what you can to resist this spirit for it will attempt to take control of you again. You will find a power to resist fear that you never before have experienced.

Again, if yours is an unusually tough case, bring it before the elders of your church. Have them take authority over the spirit of unbelief and cast it from you.

"Oh Brother Thompson, I don't believe a Christian can have a devil."

Cool. Then why do you act like the devil? I don't care what you call it, pray and get it out of you. You don't want to go into the Lake of Fire with it do you?

To be continued.
