The Daily Word of Righteousness

Revelation 21:8, continued

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. (I Corinthians 5:11)

Sorcerers. I never thought I would live to see the day that sorcery, witchcraft, Satanism, call it what you will, would be practiced openly in the United States. We have the New Agers, those who practice various forms of the Hindu religion such as yoga, those who are channeling demons and fallen angels, those who converse with familiar spirits, and those who knowingly and openly worship Satan.

Well, it is among us now in America. I think that soon we may see much more occult phenomena than has been true in the past.

With assuredly no ill will toward Catholic people, many of whom are as devout Christians as one could hope to find, I believe there will come powerful signs and wonders to support the worship of the Virgin Mary. Since the Scriptures do not proclaim the Divinity of the mother of Jesus we cannot accept such miracles as coming from God no matter what social good they may appear to accomplish.

Someone said the last place one would expect to observe the miraculous is in his or her neighborhood Christian church. Whether or not this is true, it appears people today in America have a terrific hunger for the supernatural. Sometimes drugs are employed to tap the metaphysical world.

There is no need for this, for flying saucers or unidentified flying objects, for the worship of Satan, or for any other form of dabbling in witchcraft. We have all the supernatural wonder in Jesus we could ever wish, if we care to pursue it.

Once you go to Satan for thrills you may find it exceedingly difficult to escape. He does not surrender his captives readily and he is extraordinarily cruel. You are asking for mental torment beyond imagination if you choose to enter the world of the demons. It is a real world, make no mistake. The world of demons may appear to be an escape from the pain, dread, and boredom of life on the earth. But if you ever get trapped in the world of demons you will gladly give everything you have in order to get back to Mom and Dad and the bread and butter of ordinary existence.

God is very jealous. Once you choose Satan over God you are spitting in God's face. God is a King and capable of great anger toward those who have gone over to the enemy.

God has endless patience with the weak and shows pity toward them. But those who choose the fallen cherub are cast from God's Presence. Don't let that happen to you. If you have ever been involved in any kind of witchcraft, from reading tea leaves to the practice of imaging and getting rich by "faith," denounce it with all your might. Tell Jesus you are sorry, you were deceived, and you wish to return to your Father's house.

Idolaters. Americans worship many gods: lust, money, violence, entertainment including athletic events, drunkenness and partying, and material abundance, luxury, and comfort. We worship these things. These demon gods appear every time one turns on the television.

Each of us is tempted by one or more of these American idols. Recognize that the worship of them, the craving for them, the continued practice of them, belongs in the Lake of Fire, nowhere else.

Whoever loves the world is the enemy of God; for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but of the world. So says the Apostle John.
