The Daily Word of Righteousness

Killing the Witness, continued

The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time.  When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed." (Daniel 12:7—NIV)

"The power of the holy people has been finally broken." The "holy people" are not the physical Jews. The holy people, the saints, are those who are part of Jesus Christ. The Jews of today for the most part are decent religious people. Some of them are agnostics and some, the ultra Orthodox, maintain rigid adherence to the Torah and the Talmud. None of these good people are especially holy. To be holy is to be drawn close to God for His special purposes. Ever since Christ rose from the dead such genuine holiness can be true only of Jesus Christ and those who are part of Him.

The power of the saints will be shattered by Antichrist.

I believe this is the meaning of the following verse;

For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. (II Thessalonians 2:7—NIV)

Antichrist cannot be revealed in his fullness to the world until the power of the saints has been shattered.

We understand, therefore, that the Christian witness shall be conquered in the last days by Antichrist.

Yet we realize Satan himself does not have the power to separate a saint from the love of God. So we know the conquering of the saints will be accomplished by the deceitfulness of sin.

The dead witness will lie in Sodom, Egypt, and Jerusalem. This means the witness will be attacked, overcome, and killed by means of bodily lusts, the love of the world, and religious pride and self-will.

These are the three means Satan has employed to destroy the Christian witness in America. The same scenario shall be repeated on a worldwide scale just before the Lord returns and puts an end to Antichrist.

Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. (Revelation 11:8—NIV)

Sodom

Sodom symbolizes the lusts of the flesh, the sensual desires of the human being. Unsaved people walk according to their sensual desires. Numerous Christian people behave according to their sensual desires, showing by this that the power of salvation is not operating in them. Even though they have taken "the four steps of salvation" they are spiritually dead. In the day of resurrection they shall reap corruption, even though they are not being warned of this in numerous Evangelical churches. The Scripture cannot be broken!

No individual living according to his or her sensual desires can give a valid, eternal witness of the Person of God, His will, His way, His eternal purpose in Jesus Christ. Antichrist has overcome that believer.

Only those believers who are living according to the Spirit of God are being saved, are bearing the Divine fruit, are experiencing eternal life in their personality.

For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, (Romans 8:13—NIV)

To be continued.
