The Daily Word of Righteousness

The Promise of His Rest, continued

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. (Hebrews 4:9,10)

If you lack courage ask God for courage. If you lack wisdom ask God for wisdom. If you lack patience ask God for patience. If you need deliverance ask God for deliverance.

Keep on asking. Keep on knocking. Keep on seeking. Keep on insisting, not to get your own way but to press into God's will. Don't ever quit. The process of asking, knocking, seeking, insisting, will succeed in transforming your mind and entire personality. Keep at it and you will get there.

The mainspring of the Christian salvation is death and resurrection. Christianity is not a religion, a philosophy, it is death and resurrection. Until you enter the process of overcoming worldliness, lust, and self-will in the manner we have described you are not growing in Christ. You are not being saved. You may be a good churchgoer, a fine person. You may believe everything in the Bible. But unless you are undergoing the daily process of death to sin and resurrection life in Christ you are not experiencing the Christian salvation.

If you are confused about what we have just written you might contact us and one of our staff will try to help.

The fourth chapter of Hebrews mentions three attitudes and actions that will help you enter the rest of God. These three attitudes and actions are found in the fourth chapter of Hebrews.

First of all, we must adopt the attitude that God finished all His works from the foundation of the world.

Every person coming into the world tries to create his or her own heaven and earth, so to speak. We seek to plan our way in the world. God wants us to understand that during the first six days of creation He finished the world all the way through to the new heaven and earth government of Christ.

Most importantly for you to know is that your place and role were decided for you back in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis.

Given this fact, your life is not to be one of planning your place and role in the present life or in the future life. These have been decided. The works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Rather your task is to find out what has been planned for you. It's actually kind of fun but our carnal mind does not like this one bit. So our carnal mind becomes one of the greatest of the enemies that seeks to prevent our entrance into the rest of God.

The mind of the Spirit is peace and joy. Our natural mind is a pain in the brain. It is hostile to God's way and cannot be converted. It can, however, be renewed by being replaced with the mind of Christ.

Our natural mind is absolutely determined to plan and guide our life. We have to learn to pray unceasingly so we are aware of what Christ wants us to do. This is how we enter the rest of God.

To be continued.
