The Daily Word of Righteousness

John 14:1,2, continued

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, (Galatians 4:19)

As Christ is formed in us and the Father and the Son begin to make Their eternal abode in us we will have a better understanding of the Godhead. We will not have to lean as heavily on the formulations of the Church fathers but will know we are in Christ and Christ is in the Father. We will come to know Christ and we will come to know the Father in a much clearer manner. We will know they are not the same Person and yet are One. We will learn also that we have been called and chosen to be part of that Oneness. This is the spiritual fulfillment of the Jewish feast of Tabernacles.

What are we saying? We are saying that when Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many rooms," He meant that God is building a great and eternal house for Himself. Jesus Christ is the chief Cornerstone in the eternal house of God. The members of Christ's Body are living stones in the house.

If Christ were to be the only room in the house of God He would have informed us of this.

How different world history would have been if the Lord Jesus Christ were to be the only room in the great house of God!

Christ was with His disciples at that time but not in them. God's plan is that Christ be in His disciples, not just with them. This is why we have had to endure two thousand years of agony. The purpose of the two thousand years of the Christian Era has been that Christ might be formed in His disciples.

People tried to make Jesus a king. He could have been, you know. He had faithful followers. He could create food. He could bring money from the floor of the sea in the mouth of fish. He could walk on the water.

Christ had the authority to summon the legions of angelic warriors. No army on earth could have withstood one of these warriors.

Why didn't He set up His kingdom at that time and spare us so much suffering?

Because He was with His disciples and not in them.

"In my Father's house there are many rooms. If this weren't true I would have told you so. I go to prepare a place for you."

You know where Jesus went after saying this and the way you know. He went to Gethsemane and then to the cross. Finally to the Father.

In order to prepare a place for us in the house of God our sins had to be forgiven. The blood of the Lord had to be sprinkled upon and before the Mercy Seat in Heaven, which is exactly what took place.

Even this was not enough to prepare a place for us in the house of God.

Jesus shed forth the Holy Spirit on the waiting disciples. Now they had comfort, strength, wisdom, joy, gifts and ministries, but even this was not enough to prepare a place for us in the house of God.

A spear pierced Jesus' side. Now we have an entrance into the house of God for Christ Himself is the eternal Zion, the dwelling place of God. Now the body and blood of Jesus are made available to us.

To be continued.
