The Day of Christ, #6

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (I Thessalonians 4:14)

It is the army of Christ that will be raised, because the Day of Christ is the time of the Battle of Armageddon.

"Will God bring with Him." This is the return of the saints in glory spoken of so many times in the Scriptures:

. . . and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (Zechariah 14:5)

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4)

Who will see the saints when they appear with Christ? Everyone will see them, and seeing, the world will believe.

When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. (II Thessalonians 1:10)

The nations of the earth will behold the Glory of God in Christ in the saints and they will believe that it is God who has sent Christ.

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John 17:21)

When the sons of God are revealed together with Christ the creation will be set free from the bondage of corruption:

For the earnest expectation of the creature [creation] waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. (Romans 8:19)

The Day of Christ is the Day of Resurrection of the saints. It is the raising of God's army from the dead:

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. (Ezekiel 37:10)

The army of Christ will accompany Christ at His coming. The saints will execute the Divine judgment on all sinners—human and angelic:

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (Jude 1:14,15)

This is the time of the possessing of the Kingdom of God by the saints.

God will permit Antichrist to make war against the saints and to overcome them. But Antichrist will be destroyed by the appearing of Christ with the saints as they descend from Heaven to assume the rulership of the world:

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. (Daniel 7:21,22)

At their appearing the soldiers of Christ will be riding God's war horses:

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (Revelation 19:14)

It is an honor to be chosen to return with Christ in the Day of the Lord:

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. (Revelation 17:14)

To be continued.
