The Daily Word of Righteousness

The Lord Fights Against the Churches

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. (Acts 17:30—NIV)

Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. (Revelation 2:16—NIV)

The Lord Jesus Christ has come to America today to fight against His churches. He is fighting against us with the sword of His mouth, that is, with the Word of God.

Evangelical doctrine is in a terrible state. We are correct as far as the blood atonement, the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ, and His literal coming again in the clouds of glory are concerned. But from there on we are in a no man's land of tradition and confusion.

Recently I heard a horrible thing, and this from two sources. The full verbal inspiration of the Epistles of Paul is being challenged. One source stated Paul, in later writings, showed he no longer agreed with what he had written previously. The other source flat out declared that Paul was mistaken in some things and we have to go to the Lord to find out what is true and what is not.

People, if one word of the Bible is not inspired by the Lord we are in a no man's land of chaos. Either the whole book is fully inspired, word by word, or it is worse than worthless. I have lived by the Book for fifty-four years and it hasn't failed me yet.

Brother Ellenwood used to say, "The Bride has perfect teeth so when she eats corn she doesn't leave anything on the cob."

Don't let anyone tell you the Bible is not totally inspired, every jot and tittle of it. The Holy Spirit made sure of that.

But as I was saying, our Evangelical doctrine is terrible. Probably the basic error, the common denominator from which the rest of the damage springs, is the teaching that we do not have to keep the commandments of Christ and His Apostles because we are saved by "grace." Divine grace has become an alternative to righteous behavior.

In time past the Lord may have overlooked our ignorance. But now He is coming to fight against us with the Word of His mouth.

How does He do this? He applies the Word to our behavior.

He commands us to endure to the end.

He commands us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.

He commands us to forgive our enemies.

He commands us to present our body a living sacrifice to God.

He commands us to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit.

When we understand we are not doing what the Lord has commanded we are to repent. This is to say, we are to choose to start praying for wisdom and strength to do what He has commanded.

Then God looks down to see if we are doing what His beloved Son has commanded. If we are not keeping the commandments of Jesus Christ, God punishes us with the hope we will repent.

I think the Lord Jesus Christ is beginning to fight against His churches in America with the sword of His mouth. We are to repent. If we do not turn and start keeping His commandments we are going to be punished.
