Israel—Spirit and Flesh, #13

For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. (Hebrews 13:14)

We seek the coming to earth of the heavenly Jerusalem.

But, the Christian may protest, we have an inheritance in Heaven. True! So do Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But our stay in Heaven is temporary, as is true of them also. We shall return with Christ for He will sit on the Throne of David in Jerusalem. Then will Jerusalem be glorified, and we shall be glorified also. We Gentile Christians are not separate from Jerusalem, from Christ, from the Son of David.

If we are separate from the Son of David we are separate from God, for Divine salvation can be found only in Christ

Jesus will reign over the nations of the saved from His throne in the city of Jerusalem. We who walk in victory with the Lord Jesus, who are "Israel" (for Israel means "he struggles with God"), shall, as coheirs, reign with Jesus over the nations of the saved.

The new Jerusalem is a living city composed of saints on whom the name "Jerusalem" has been engraved for eternity. Wherever such victorious saints go is the going of Jerusalem. Jerusalem will reign over the nations of the earth.

The nations of the earth will come to Jerusalem to learn of God. The members of the Body of Christ will be their teachers, their priests, their kings, their judges. This is what the Scriptures teach.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:2,3)

Let each of us pray for the uniting of true Israel. Let us, as the Lord directs, bring their own bread, their own Christ, to the Jews. The Gospel belongs to the Jew first. We Gentiles are the outsiders.

If we have no inheritance in Israel we have no inheritance at all. Our ideas about mansions in Heaven are only traditions. God's Word has to do with the coming of His Kingdom to the earth, not with our resting for eternity in mansions in Heaven.

God desires that each Christian whom He has prepared so carefully, whom He has taught of His own holiness, ways, power, and love, be a light to mankind, a minister of deliverance and blessing to the nations of saved peoples of the earth. We are God's kings and priests, the source of blessing for mankind.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. (Genesis 22:18)

And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. (Revelation 21:24)

To be continued.
