The Kingdom of God Is at Hand, #21

These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. (Revelation 11:4)

The two olive trees of the eleventh chapter of Revelation are the double portion of the Spirit of God poured on the saints so they can prepare the whole earth for the return of the King.

The Scripture reveals to us that a new kind of witnessing will appear in the earth before Christ returns from Heaven. This new testimony will affect all the nations of the earth, warning them of the overthrow of all secular government and the establishing of Christ's saints in all positions of authority, and demonstrating before their eyes what they can expect should they decide to resist the Lord Jesus as He takes over the governments of the world.

Every individual who believes and is baptized will be saved from God's wrath, if such belief and baptism are accompanied by an enduring attitude of repentance and obedience to Christ. But the rebellious and unbelieving will be punished in that Day. The coming advent of Christ is one of thick darkness and wrath. The present inept, people-pleasing "Christian witness" is a weak, unclear testimony of the Day of the Lord that is at hand.

The testimony of the two witnesses of the day of image and union will be clothed in the sackcloth of repentance, a refreshing contrast to the current pretty "gospel" message of our time. The flames of Divine judgment will roar from the mouths of the witnesses and consume their enemies.

The two witnesses of Revelation, Chapter 11 possess the authority to use the key of Hell and the key of death. They command droughts and turn waters to blood. They strike the whole earth with plague after plague until the world staggers from the chaotic conditions just as Egypt reeled when Moses and Aaron demanded that Pharaoh release Israel from slavery.

The end-time witness of the Kingdom will differ from that to which we have been accustomed (the ministry of the day of life). However, it will be a true witness of the thousand-year reign of Christ—the smiting of the nations with a rod of iron.

These two prophets will torment the people who dwell on the earth.

Does the Scripture, the written Word of God, actually state there will come such a witness of the Kingdom of God before the Lord Jesus returns to set up His Kingdom? Indeed it does. We can see in our time the need for the exercise of such fierce judgments on the nations of the earth.

This type of destructive witness, which we can observe in the flood of Noah, the plagues on Egypt, the testimonies of Elijah and Elisha (two strong types, or forerunners, of the end-time witness), the judgment on Ananias and Sapphira, and Elymas the sorcerer, has been present but not prominent during the Church Age, the day of life. The destructive witness will return to the earth as a warning of the wrath of God to be poured out in conjunction with the fiery descent from Heaven of the Lord Jesus and His army of saints and holy angels.

To be continued.
