The Kingdom of God Is at Hand, #30

For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. (I Corinthians 15:27,27)

The philosophy of democracy and the religion of humanism are deeply entrenched in the minds and of multitudes of the earth's people, including many Christian believers. The Kingdom of God, with its extreme emphasis on the unhindered rule of God in Christ, is the archenemy of democracy and humanism. The establishing of the Kingdom of God among the believers in Jesus and among the nations of the earth will be accompanied by very great conflict. God is coming to rule His creation and He will not permit any more delays.

God is gentle and loving. He also is terrible in His anger. God is the Author of the flood of Noah, and also of the crucifixion of His Son for the sins of the world. God is not a human being. God is a Spirit. As such, He does not respond as we humans do. The Christian churches of our day are giving a false witness of God. They are not portraying correctly the Creator, who is not flesh and blood, who was not born of human parents. At His pleasure He can and does view us as no more than dust.

When men seek to remove the constraints that God in His love places on His creatures, God laughs in derision. In derision! (Psalms 2:4). God is not a religious toy theologians can play with at their desks or behind their pulpits. He is a Fire. He can destroy us or heal us according to His will. He is the Potter and we are the clay.

God has determined to come to the earth and rule His creatures through Jesus, whom He has made Lord and Christ. No power can prevent this. No amount of human resistance, entreaty, anger, ignorance, pride, rebellion, can prevent God from doing what He has purposed to do.

Because people, including Christians in many instances, are deeply, essentially rebellious, the future will be an agony—an agony for everyone who is determined to preserve his own way against Christ. God cannot, will not, be turned away from accomplishing His eternal purpose.

The wise person will make his peace with God now and accept the total lordship of Jesus over every aspect of his or her personality. Those who resist will be dashed to pieces as one might smash a piece of crockery with an iron bar.

The concept of the Kingdom of God is so different from the traditional understanding of Christianity it may take several years for there to occur in the minds of Christian people even the faintest understanding of what is coming to the world. But the rate of change from the world as it is now to the world of the Kingdom Age will be accelerated. God has determined to do a quick work on the earth. The transition period has begun and it will progress rapidly to its consummation.

To be continued.
