The Glory of the Lord, #2

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. (Joel 2:28,29)

Since the days of the Azusa Street outpouring the gifts of the Spirit have been appearing among the Lord's people. The restoration of the gifts of the Spirit seems to be increasing to the present hour. The concept of the Body of Christ is beginning to be understood.

The next move of the Spirit of God will proceed along two planes: one, a worldwide witness of mighty power that will alert both the churches and the nations of the earth to the soon coming of the Kingdom of God from Heaven; and two, the bringing of the Body of Christ to the fullness of the stature of Christ. The Lord Jesus has come in fulfillment of the Blowing of Trumpets to declare war on His enemies and to prepare His army. The Church is being prepared for spiritual warfare.

As soon as the witness of the Kingdom has been given to every creature on the earth, and the Body of Christ has been brought to unity and maturity, the Lord Jesus will return to the earth and bring to a furious conclusion the war that has commenced already.

When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. (Psalms 102:16)

In the days that are coming the Spirit of God will be poured out on many people in fulfillment of God's declarations through His prophets.

Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. (Isaiah 32:15)

The vision of Ezekiel shows us the gradual increase of the issuing of the Holy Spirit to the Church, the elect of God, and then the flowing of the Spirit from the Church until the peoples of the earth, and the earth itself, have been healed.

First our attention is directed toward the flowing of the Holy Spirit from Christ, who Himself is the eternal House of God.

Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward [toward the coming of the Lord]: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. (Ezekiel 47:1)

Next we see the evaluation of the progress that has been made in the building of the Kingdom of God in the earth, and the increase of Divine glory as satisfactory progress occurs.

And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ancles. (Ezekiel 47:3)

The man with the line in his hand represents God's evaluation of our progress toward the Divine standard, which is the fullness of Christ.

Everything is moving toward the rising of the sun of the Day of the Lord, toward the coming of Christ in glory to the earth.

To be continued.
