The Daily Word of Righteousness

The Seed and the Nations of the Saved, #11

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. (Galatians 3:16)

The Various Roles and Tasks of the Seed, continued

To be God's deliverers.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (Isaiah 61:1)

And saviours [deliverers] shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's. (Obadiah 1:21)

Because the creature [creation] itself also shall be delivered [by the revealed sons of God] from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (Romans 8:21)

To bring justice to the nations of the earth.

Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment [justice]. (Isaiah 32:1)

He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment [justice] in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. (Isaiah 42:4)

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. (Isaiah 11:4)

To teach the nations of the earth.

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:3)

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. (Psalms 25:9)

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19,20)

To be the servants of the Lord.

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. (Isaiah 41:8)

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, (II Timothy 2:24)

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: (Revelation 22:3)

Let us think once more about these roles and tasks. They are the roles and tasks of the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore of the members of His Body, of the elect, of the Seed of Abraham. As the Father has sent Christ into the world, so has Christ sent His chosen into the world. As Christ is, so are we in the world.
