The Daily Word of Righteousness

Two Beginnings, #27

Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein. (Leviticus 23:36)

The new heaven and earth reign of Christ Jesus—ages without end. The new heaven and earth reign of Christ was symbolized by the celebration of the feast of Tabernacles, and particularly by the eighth day of Tabernacles.

"The eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you."

The eighth day of the feast of Tabernacles (Simchat Torah—rejoicing over the Law) was and continues to be a time of exceedingly great rejoicing for the Jews. The eighth day of Tabernacles symbolizes the first day of the week of eternity, the week that has no end.

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:37,38)

During the new heaven and earth reign of Christ, the nations of saved peoples of the earth will be able to come and partake freely of the Life of God now flowing from the city of God, that is, from within the saints.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Revelation 22:17)

The most marvelous aspect of the new heaven and earth reign of Christ is that the Throne, the center of Government of God and the Lamb, will no longer be in the spiritual heavens but will reside eternally on the physical earth, the new earth.

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: (Revelation 22:3)

Jeremiah prophesied that the day would come when the city of Jerusalem would be the throne of God. Since Heaven is the throne of God (Isaiah 66:1), Jeremiah was saying Jerusalem would become "heaven."

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. (Jeremiah 3:17)

"They shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord."

Heaven has come down to earth. The throne has been joined to the footstool in Christ. He is the ladder reaching from earth to Heaven on whom the angels of God ascend and descend.

God' work has been finished since the creation of the world.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (Hebrews 4:3)

By the time of the feast of Tabernacles in the land of Israel, all the various fruits and vegetables have been harvested and processed. It is a time of thanksgiving for the past year, the long summer drought is over, and the fall, planting (former) rains are anticipated.

To be continued.
