The Daily Word of Righteousness

Jerusalem

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Revelation 21:2)

The holy city, the eternal home of the saints, is the new Jerusalem. The old Jerusalem is the city that became the center of the nation of Israel during the days of David and Solomon and to this day remains as the focus of Jewish pride and aspirations.

Earthly Jerusalem is the home of physical Israel. Earthly Jerusalem corresponds to Hagar, the mother of Ishmael, and to the Law of Moses. Earthly Jerusalem is "in bondage with her children."

For this Agar [Hagar—Genesis, Chapter 16] is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. (Galatians 4:25)

The heavenly Jerusalem is the eternal home of the true Israel of God. The true Israel of God consists of every person who has received the Lord Jesus Christ and has become part of Him.

In God's time the new Jerusalem will come down upon the earthly Jerusalem and the two will be one. This is how God will redeem all Israel.

No human being can become a part of the true Israel of God merely by being born of Jewish parents. A human being can become a part of the true Israel of God only by receiving Christ.

In Christ there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile. There is no such distinction in the new creation that comes into being when Christ is born in us. No human being ever can become a member of the Kingdom of God except by being born again of Christ.

The new Jerusalem is in Heaven today. It is the holy city, the eternal home of every saint of God. It is the eternal home of the true Seed of Abraham (Galatians 4:26).

The true Seed of Abraham is Christ and those who belong to Christ. There is no other seed of Abraham that is heir to the promises of God.

This is not to say that God has forgotten His ancient people. Today the Jews are resettling Jerusalem, and it is the obligation of every Christian to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem."

Satan always fights the physical land and people of Israel. The reason is, God has promised to make Israel the moral head of all nations. The moral law of God will go forth from Israel, from Jerusalem, from Zion, from nowhere else.

Today there is no righteous nation, no Christian nation, on the face of the earth. The only hope of the world is that God will restore Israel and cause His righteous laws to be practiced and taught in that nation. It is necessary the name of Jesus of Nazareth be honored in Israel, because Jesus is Christ, the Divine Redeemer of whom the Prophets wrote.

In the present hour the Jews are fighting one another as well as the rest of the world. Nevertheless, Israel is the only hope of the world, the only country from which the Lord's Jubilee of deliverance can come. (from Revelation: Chapters Twenty-one and Twenty-two)
