Ye Shall Receive Power, #2

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. (Isaiah 66:8)

God will do a quick work in the last days. A nation, the Body of Christ, the "holy nation," will be born "at once." This climactic work of God will suddenly bring to harvest, to maturity, that which has been in preparation from the time of Abraham—particularly over the past two thousand years.

The mystery of God is Christ in us, as we have stated. The creating of God in people is a mystery. It is contained in a scroll that is sealed.

The sealed book is the heart of mankind, the history of mankind, and the Scriptures. All these are one. All portray the mystery of God, the eternal plan of God. The eternal plan of God is to create a Kingdom, a Kingdom which is Christ formed and expressed in human beings. When the seventh angel is about to sound, the mystery of God will be finished, or accomplished.

Then John was directed to prophesy once again to the peoples of the earth.

And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. (Revelation 10:11)

The prophets of Israel, in several instances, spoke of a "latter-rain" outpouring of God's Spirit that will herald the closing of the present age and the dawning of the Day of the Lord.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. (Hosea 6:3)

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. (Zechariah 10:1)

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. (Joel 2:23)

The "former rain" of God's Holy Spirit is described in the Book of Acts. In the days just prior to the return of Christ there will fall the "latter rain" of the Spirit of God (James 5:7).

The former rain empowered the spreading of the Gospel witness, the testimony concerning the soon coming of the Kingdom of God, to the ends of the earth. The latter rain also will result in the testimony of the Kingdom of God going forth to the ends of the earth.

It is our point of view that when the Spirit spoke to John, "Thou must prophesy again," the Spirit was referring to the latter rain that was announced by the prophets of Israel. The latter rain is the "again" prophecy.

The end-time, latter-rain witness of the Kingdom of God will be prophetic in nature. The members of God's elect will become a part of the great Light of the world, the Body of Christ, the Lampstand of God.

To be continued.
