The Lord's soldiers are able to leap over the enemy, surmounting all obstacles. They leap over every wall of Hell's defenses and proceed to destroy the enemy.

For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. (II Samuel 22:30)

Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the straw, as a strong people set in battle array. (Joel 2:5)

The "tops of mountains" refers to the governments and powers of the flesh and of Satan that will be overthrown when the Lord Jesus Christ and His army come to establish His Kingdom on the earth.

Christ's saints soon learn that nothing can stop them when they pray. We Christians make a mistake when we become involved in fighting against people, against their resistance to us and our efforts. Our true warfare is not against flesh and blood or physical circumstances.

The battle is spiritual. No matter how impossible our situation may appear to be, no matter how many blockades have been thrown up against us, when we turn to the Lord in prayer and gain the spiritual victory, the seemingly insurmountable obstacles are brought into subjection under our feet. We "leap over" them in the power and wisdom of Christ.

"The glory of his nostrils is terrible" portrays the neighing of the horse of war. The conquering saints "neigh" majestically. The words of their mouth are not those of hesitation and fear. They speak boldly in the royal authority and power of the name they bear.

The overcomers speak faith and confidence. They know the Word of God gives them all authority over the power of the enemy, and so they are confident with the boldness of kings that they will crush the enemy.

It is not pleasing to God when we are afraid of Satan. We are to fear Christ, not Satan. When we are attacked by evil spirits, we are not to cower in fear. Neither are we to become excited and begin to rebuke devils and attempt to cast them out amid much panic and confusion.

The authority of Satan was stripped from him on Calvary. Christ has made prisoners of our captors. Therefore, we do not waste energy and time "fighting" the devil. The devil has been defeated. Our privilege is to stand in the authority of Christ and announce the victory that is ours through Christ. We proclaim defiantly our declaration that Jesus is Victor and that every prisoner of the earth has been loosed in His name.

The war horse "paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength." All of Christ's conquering saints "paw in the valley" and rejoice in the unconquerable strength of Christ their Lord. The valley spoken of here is the "valley of decision," which appears as the Day of the Lord draws near.

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. (Joel 3:14)

The overcomers "paw" in the "valley of decision" because they cannot find rest if there is any question as to whether the will of Christ is being done. The saints refuse to wander in indecision. They climb quickly out of that valley until they are standing on top of the mountain of prayer and communion with the Lord.
