The Heavenly Jerusalem, #14

. . . that whosoever [of the world] believeth in him should not perish, . . . . (John 3:16)

Whoever of the world will believe in the Son whom God has sent will not perish but have everlasting life.

When and under what conditions will the world finally believe?

That they [the saints, the elect] all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe thou hast sent me. (John 17:21)

Emmanuel. God is with us. This is the Good News of the Kingdom of God.

After describing the future temple, which is a portrayal of the personality of each member of the new Jerusalem, Ezekiel says: "the name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there (Ezekiel 48:35).

God will dwell among the nations of the earth. The nations will be God's peoples and God Himself will be among them.

"He shall dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."

Is there a more precious promise in the Scriptures?

Did the Spirit of Christ speaking in the prophets of Israel reveal to us that God intends to dwell among the nations through Christ—Head and Body?

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house.... (Isaiah 2:2)

The "mountain of the Lord's house" is Mount Zion, the Church, the new Jerusalem, the Wife of the Lamb, the Body of Christ, in which God dwells through Christ

. . . shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; . . . . (Isaiah 2:2)

Compare:

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, (Hebrews 12:22)

The "mountains" and the "hills" refer to the governments, principal cities, and other centers of activity and influence in the earth. The Christian Church will be the center of government of the Kingdom of God, being elevated above all other governments and cities, authorities and powers, of the world.

Christ will return to earth and sit on the throne of David. His Church will be with Him and be part of Him. The creation of God will be ruled from Jerusalem.

. . . and all nations shall flow unto it. (Isaiah 2:2)

All the kings of the earth will bring their honor and glory to Jerusalem. The kingdom that will not serve Jerusalem will perish.

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; . . . . (Isaiah 2:3)

Satan will be chained and cast into the bottomless pit, and later consigned to the Lake of Fire for eternity. Every fallen angel and demon spirit will be driven from the earth by God in Christ in the members of the Body of Christ. Antichrist and the False Prophet will be cast alive into the Lake of Fire.

The knowledge of the Glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Because of this change in the spiritual atmosphere the nations of peoples of the earth will choose to go up to Jerusalem where Christ is reigning. They will desire the Presence of the Lord.

To be continued.
