The Daily Word of Righteousness

Survival and Fruitfulness in the Last Days, #9

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Daniel 9:27)

The ceasing of the sacrifice and the oblation means the people of the cities of Antichrist will not be able to be saved or to receive the Holy Spirit.

The night when no man can work. There is coming a period of intense spiritual darkness when no believer will be able of his own ability to work the righteous works of God. Whatever is done will have to be performed by the Presence of God in him.

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. (John 9:4)

Yet we know that during the reign of Antichrist mighty works will be performed in the name of the Lord.

And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. (Daniel 11:32)

Even though the spiritual night has come, "mighty works" will be performed by the saints. This is because they have died in the Lord and God is performing the works through them.

The godly remnant of saints will be driven from the cities of the earth by Antichrist. There will be no Christian testimony in those cities. This is what is meant in Revelation, Chapter Eleven when it speaks of the overcoming of the two witnesses. The bodies of the witnesses, the churches, Christian schools, and other institutions will still be present, but the witness will have been overcome.

Hidden away in the wilderness areas of the earth will be the godly remnant who have died in the Lord. Whoever would be saved must go out to them for salvation. The Holy Spirit no longer will be present in the centers of civilization.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. (Joel 2:32)

Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. And a man (the King and His princes according to newer translations) shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. (Isaiah 32:1,2)

The Lord will be dwelling in Zion, in His people, in those days. Notice the power of God issuing through the remnant.

The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. (Joel 3:16)

To be continued.
