The Daily Word of Righteousness

Some Thoughts—August 29, 1998, continued

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (John 12:32—NIV)

God sent His Son to be the Savior of the world and to obtain a counterpart, a helpmeet entirely suited to Him, a bride without spot or wrinkle. The Holy Spirit is always active, using His wisdom and power to save people and to perfect the Bride of the Lamb.

The Holy Spirit always exalts Jesus Christ. This is His commission from the Father. The Spirit is not the Bridegroom and He understands this.

When we attempt to direct the Spirit, to use the Spirit, we are out of Divine order. We have left the Scriptures. We are of the spirit of Babylon, the efforts of humans to build a tower that reaches to the heavens. We are blind leading the blind. We do not know what we are doing. The end result is confusion and chaos.

The Holy Spirit helps us in many ways. It is through the Holy Spirit that we learn to walk in righteousness and holiness. When we think, act, and speak in the Spirit we do not fulfill the lusts of our flesh. The Holy Spirit is our law—the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

Another major work of the Holy Spirit is to empower us to bear witness of the atoning death and triumphant resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. All true ministry is directed and empowered by the Spirit of God.

The Christian church is much more than a social club. It is the lampstand of God, the Divine witness of God to the community and the world. The Spirit-filled church reveals the Person of God, His will, His ways, His Holy Nature, and His eternal purpose in Christ.

If the people laying on the carpet in the local revival arise to do the good works of righteousness and holiness, which always are the true light, the true testimony of God, then I say, let them laugh on and we shall laugh with them. Our nation is sorely in need of a moral reformation.

But if laying on the carpet and giggling leads only to more laying on the carpet and giggling, and this becomes the means and ends of all that is taking place, then I see a red flag. It may be that the will of God is being diverted along an unprofitable line.

The Lord God of Heaven is encouraging the Christians of America to repent, to confess their sins, to begin to keep His commandments. We have had a lot of false doctrine that claims we do not have to keep the commandments of Christ and His Apostles and that no believer will suffer at the Judgment Seat of Christ. The result of such false, unscriptural teaching is multitudes of Christian people who do not know the difference between right and wrong. They are babies, not being able to discern between good and evil, not having the will and strength to choose the good and renounce the evil.

I am not going to tear my clothes over this or pull the hair out of my head. I will leave such behavior to God's true saints.

But really, we need to change!
