The Daily Word of Righteousness

Dead Reckoning, continued

Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. (Nehemiah 2:17)

The believers of today are looking forward to reclining at their ease in mansions in Paradise, doing nothing of significance. On top of this has been added the doctrine of the "pre-tribulation rapture," the unscriptural idea that Christ is coming to take His Church to Heaven to live in the midst of material wealth—something that does not satisfy here and would never satisfy in Heaven.

God wants the world to see Christ in us, not just hear our theological pronouncements. Until the world sees Christ in us, until we are one with Christ in the Father, the world will never believe that Jesus Christ indeed came from God.

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17:23)

As for our goal, our destination, it is to be conformed to the moral image of Christ and to enter untroubled rest in the Father's perfect will through Jesus Christ.

It is only then that we can serve as a living stone in the eternal Temple of God.

It is only then that we can serve as a member of the Body of Christ.

It is only then that we can serve as a member of the Bride of the Lamb.

It is only then that we can serve as a brother of Jesus Christ.

It is only then that we can serve as the judge of men and angels.

It is only then that we can serve in the army of the Lord, appearing with the Lord Jesus to drive sin from the churches and from the nations of the earth.

It is only then that we can serve as the moral light of the world.

No previously determined position. No straight course. No clear destination. This is the condition of the Christian churches of our day and the reason for their impotence in the face of the rise of lawlessness, the rise of Antichrist.

Yet there is hope. The Spirit of God is speaking to many. They are returning to rebuild the wall against sin and the house of God.

Nehemiah left his comfortable job in Babylon as cupbearer to the king. Will you leave your comfortable life and give yourself to the rebuilding of the wall so the enemy no longer can mock us?

Your help is needed. Stop criticizing your brother. How do you know what God has told him to do? Take your place at the wall. God has put a trowel in your hand and also a sword. Put your stone in the wall and quit trying to tear out your brother's stone. If each one of us will do this it will not be long before the poor, wretched Church of Christ arises from the dirt and stands as a moral lighthouse during the age of moral horrors facing us in the near future.

God is showing us the previously determined position—our position with Jesus Christ on the cross. God is restoring to us the course—the keeping of the commandments of Christ and His Apostles. God is making clear to us the destination—untroubled rest in God through Jesus Christ.

God bless you as you place yourself at the disposal of Jesus Christ the King so the wall against sin can be built on its foundations and the eternal Temple of God completed.
